The 104 volunteer judges working with the MD|DC Credit Union Scholarship Program have selected this year’s winners from among the 241 essay-based entries, 75 photo-based entries, and 13 video-based entries.
Each of this year’s winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship award presented by their credit union.

Do you have members who could use some help with college tuition? Well the Credit Union Foundation MD|DC college scholarship program makes it easy for you to help your college-bound members meet their tuition costs while strengthening your bond with those members.
The $12,000 Credit Union College Scholarship Program is underway now! Your college-bound members are eligible to apply for one of ten $1,000 essay-based scholarships, one $1,000 video-based scholarship, and/or one $1,000 photo-based scholarship. And yes, members can apply in all three categories.

Deadline for applications is March 31, 2020. Awards will be made in May 2020.

This year’s essay topic (750 word max):
“It’s ten years in the future – the year 2030. Describe your vision of how you will manage your personal finances then. Include how you will pay for things, save, and borrow. Imagine how your credit union will help make that vision a reality”
This year’s video topic:
“It’s ten years in the future – the year 2030. Create a 60-second video showing how you will manage your personal finances with your credit union as your financial services partner.”
This year’s photo theme:
Members of Maryland or District of Columbia-based credit unions or members of credit unions that are affiliated with the MD & DC Credit Union Association are eligible to apply. Member applicants must be entering their freshman through senior year of college or trade school.
This scholarship does not apply to students in post-graduate programs nor payment of student loans.
The Foundation is pleased to offer this opportunity for credit unions to help their young members. The awardees will receive needed financial assistance to help them meet their tuition expenses and the essay, video, and photo topics provoke innovative and useful responses to help you better serve your college-aged members while the applicants earn a little more about your credit union.
