First Financial Extends Commitment; Sponsors 4th Millionaire’s Club

First Financial FCU, Lutherville, MD; has sponsored their fourth Millionaire’s Club financial education experience at Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore, MD.  The students at Calvert Hall now have a new, engaging resource for developing their personal financial skills while enjoying competitions with other students locally, statewide, and across the nation.

“First Financial has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the faculty and students at Calvert Hall,” said First Financial’s President & CEO Eric Church.  “We are honored to add the Millionaire’s Club to our student branch and debit card program there.  Combining financial services with personal finance education helps prepare students for future success.  The Millionaire’s Club is an ideal way to deliver financial literacy in a way that engages students and stirs their interest in future financial independence.”

Millionaire’s Club members at Calvert Hall are already engaged in the Stock Market Game™ competitions, with teams of students researching and trading stocks on a “virtual” basis, pitting their selections against other teams and learning ins and outs of investing.  In addition, they are learning the basics of budgeting, selecting financial services, protecting their assets and identities, responsible borrowing, career choice, and more.

Millionaire’s Clubs were created to help credit unions serve local high schools through a complete financial education offering.  Millionaire’s Clubs have been growing at an increasing rate and as of this writing over 1,500 students benefit annually from their participation.

School Clubs are provided seed grants, detailed curriculum, and faculty/student materials at no charge.  Clubs are entered into local, regional, and national competitions such as The Stock Market Game™ and The Personal Finance Challenge™.  Additional support materials add a fun, competitive edge to the Club’s activities.

Millionaire’s Clubs have produced State and National personal finance champions as well as first-place Stock Market Game™ competitors.
