Financial Counselor Certification

To prepare more local credit unions to offer professional financial counseling for their members, the Foundation is offering, in cooperation with the MD|DC Credit Union Association, a comprehensive financial counselor training and certification offering.

Registration Open

Registration for the 2022 Financial Counselor CUNA-certification program is now open.  The program has filled to capacity in previous offerings and high demand is anticipated for the 2022 offering.  For more information or to register please visit here

The Foundation is covering full tuition for participating credit union staff, regardless of asset size.  This program can cost over $5,000 per attendee.  The MD|DC Credit Union Association is assessing a fee to cover materials and administrative expenses, but the tuition for all attendees is being paid for by the Foundation.

In addition, credit unions with assets ≤ $150 million may apply for reimbursement up to 75% for registration costs collected by the Association.  To be considered for a reimbursement grant, interested credit unions should complete a Training Grant Request here.

Successful participants in the program will receive CUNA Certification in Financial Counseling and be prepared to provide valuable assistance to their members and community.

The program is conducted primarily online, with two online review and certification exam sessions.
